Parma Morta (photo by RR Parma Morta)

An abandoned branch of the Parma stream

The Parma Morta Nature Reserve houses the ancient riverbed where the Parma Torrent once flowed. In the late 19th century a deviation interrupted the water flow in the last stretch of the stream: this is how  the Parma Morta originated, and its place name (meaning "dead Parma") points its origin. The reserve's paths lead the visitors through the typical environments of the wetland characterized by a high level of biodiversity. Within this environment a pleasant stage is represented by the freshwater fish tank.
