Norra Kvill National Park

Norra Kvill is something unique - a well-preserved ancient forest in the Småland highlands. The forest has not been logged for over 150 years and some of the pines are over 350 years old. There are pines which are 2.5 metres in circumference and 35 metres tall in height. Fallen logs, enormous boulders and vast trees make the area a wilderness, if on a small scale.

The park slopes down to a magical little forest lake, Stora Idegölen, with water lilies and buckbean. There is a surprisingly rich flora, with several hundred species of higher plants, lichens and mosses.
