Wild ravines, also frequented by bears

The ZSC covers a surface of 874 hectares, in the Municipalities of Castelnovo del Friuli, Clauzetto and Travesio. Within the area there are no inhabited centres but there only a few malghe (farmsteads) and stables. The south-eastern part is crossed by the Cosa stream, whose waters feed the artificial lake of Tul, positioned on its south-eastern summit. The area has extensive karst phenomena with many caves. The road network is almost completely absent and limited to short sections of sylvan roads. The path network is also not very developed, with paths and unpaved roads only along its border.
