Quarantino Corn Flour

Production area:
Val d'Aveto

Product features: Quarantino corn is a corn variety directly selected by farmers, that can have different morphological features according to the production area it comes from. The fruit of Quarantino corn is characterized by an intense yellow color (some corn cobs can be even orange). It has a medium-big size, slightly squeezed on the sides.
According to the quantity and quality of starch, it is employed in various uses (diet, industry, etc.). The medium-low size of the plant, as well as its relatively short vegetative cycle, makes it more resistant to the soil and climatic conditions of its characteristic production area represented by environments at a medium-high altitude above sea level with a short hot season. Quarantino corn is used to produce a poorer and more rustic flour giving the products a coarser aspect but a delicious gilded color.
