Once again, the Stelvio National Park in Lombardy is proposing for the school year 2022/2023 a calendar of activities aimed at schools of all grades.
The proposals, in addition to conveying landscape, scientific and anthropic contents related to the complex reality of the Park, aim to improve the tools for a more complete reading of the territory, able to seize the relationships between the biotic and abiotic compartments, as well as the traces of the millenary presence of man in the mountain environments. Understanding the natural world, in which each element plays a role, leads, through the sense of wonder that it succeeds in arousing, to a deep appreciation of the real beauty of the protected area, which transcends its purely aesthetic aspect. Finally, the individual's awareness of belonging to the natural sphere is decisive for acquiring awareness of one's own role and for adhering with strong motivation to the behaviours suggested by environmental education, thus becoming an active part in the processes for environmental heritage conservation.
The activities proposed by the Stelvio Park - Ersaf Lombardy include thematic excursions in the area (with nature, historical and anthropological contents), guided visits to the Park educational facilities (S. Antonio Valfurva Visitor Centre, Rezia Botanical Garden in Bormio, and the Pirli - Wooden Bridge wildlife area) and workshop activities linked to the different environmental components of the mountain ecosystems, with references to the scientific research conducted by the teams of researchers working in the protected area (study of trophic networks, observations of large birds of prey, monitoring of the Alpine marmot, historical research, etc.).
