(Vogogna, 15 Oct 20) The exceptional weather conditions that occurred in the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola area on 2nd and 3rd October also heavily affected the territory of the Val Grande, causing landslides and tree falls on large portions of the Park's path network.
The Park's path network is therefore difficult to access and potentially dangerous.
The Authority, in close collaboration with the Carabinieri Forestry Corps, is carrying out the necessary checks, including also some reports from hikers. The inspections are still ongoing and, given the vastness of the path network involved, they will still require several days.
For this reason it is not recommended to attend the Park, especially along long and demanding paths.
Due to the continuation of the health emergency, it is recommended to visit the Park keeping a careful and prudent approach, respecting the coronavirus-related national and regional regulations, valid until October 31st.
Here are some recommendations:
Choose simple paths, such as our Nature Paths and therefore avoid more demanding paths;
Keep informed on weather conditions and provide family or friends with the place of physical activity and with the return time;
The good practice not to go to the mountains alone, to be self-sufficient and to be aware of your limits. We remind you that the choice of paths, on the basis of one's limits, must also be made in respect of those people who could risk their lives in rescue operations.
Keep the interpersonal distance of at least one meter. Gatherings are prohibited.
Itineraries lasting more than one day are not recommended.
We remind you also that all refuges are closed and the use of bivouacs and toilet facilities, where present, is not allowed. Even the reservations for the Pian Vadà Bivouac are suspended until further notice. For other bivouacs, please contact their management. The list of the bivouacs managed by the Park Authority, with their telephone numbers, are available on this page: www.parcovalgrande.it/Erifugi.php
The use of the tent is allowed only by booking its appropriate area on www.parcovalgrande.it/Etende.php
Camping is strictly prohibited.
We remind you that in the different sections of this website there are all information on the protected area, from itineraries to accommodation.
Offices are open only by previous appointment, from 9.30am to 12.30pm from Monday to Friday and from 2.30pm to 4.00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.
We thank you for your understanding and your collaboration.
