It is an important pilot center at a national level for the environmental conservation, interpretation, and education created by the Municipality of Marano Lagunare with the contribution of Regione Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in the area of a former fishing lagoon.
On the model of the British "Wetlands Centres", the Visitor Center consists of some buildings recalling the traditional local "casoni", with various facilities, refreshment point, didactics, and environmental observatory.

Opening times: The Visitor Center is open all year round
- from Tuesday to Sunday, 9.00 a.m. - 5.00 p.m.
- for school groups and organized groups, by previous booking, also open on Mondays.
Entrance fee:
- Adults - 3.50 Euros
- Reduced ticket - 2.50 Euros (all students)
For children under 6 years of age and teachers assisting school groups, free entrance. For school groups and organized groups, we recommend to carry out the visit together with an expert naturalist and/or naturalistic tour guide.
