The Park Authority manages four protected areas: Lagoni di Mercurago Park, 470 hectares situated in a hilly morainic area characterized by mixed forests, pastures-meadows, and marshes of botanical and archaeological interest; Fondotoce Special Nature Reserve, 360 hectares including the largest canebrake area on the Piedmont shore of Lago Maggiore and strips of riparian vegetation; Canneti di Dormelletto Special Nature Reserve, 157 hectares, canebrake areas situated on the south-western shore of Lago Maggiore, which are particularly important for the wildlife; Bosco Solivo Nature Reserve, about 340 hectares in the Municipality of Borgo Ticino, around the small mountain of Motto Solivo.
