Training for “Cinque Terre Park Guides”

(Sede - Manarola - , 27 Nov 17) A follow-up course will take place on 18 and 19 December 2017 and 12 and 13 March 2018 for tourist and environmental guides included in the register of "Park Guides", created in March 2017 at the end of the first training course.

Each training session will consist of two 4-hour afternoon classes, to take place from 2.00 to 6.00 pm at the Park offices of Via Discovolo in Manarola. Participants will be sorted in two groups: the first one will do the training in December, the second in March.

On the first day, after the welcome speech by representatives of Cinque Terre National Park, scholar and historian Attilio Casavecchia will talk about the history of landscapes and the historical identity of Cinque Terre villages. Then, local products will be illustrated: food writer and journalist Salvatore Marchese and the Italian Association of Sommeliers will report on food and wine as a way to recover  traditional and landscape activities.

"The course will further examine topics which are deeply connected with our area" says Park acting president Vincenzo Resasco "Casavecchia will have the task of analysing local history and culture, the promotion of local products, and the narration of life in the villages. Aspects linked with daily life and description of the places will be the common thread."

The second day will focus on safety and prevention in the villages and on the trails. The guides will have the opportunity to discuss with local authorities, the Civil Protection, the Italian Alpine Club and the Alpine Rescue.

"We believe in it!" concludes Resasco. "Guides are our introduction, and play a fundamental role in helping visitors realise the peculiarities of our Park. We need tourists to empathise with and approach Cinque Terre in a different, more aware and responsible way".
