From Rignano to Grotta Paglicci

Along the southern slopes of Gargano, in Rignano Garganico countryside, under the surface of a calcareous stratum, there is Paglicci Cave. The very ancient settlement dates back to a period between 200,000 and 11,000 years ago, and represents an extraordinary evidence, not only for paleoanthropology, but also for the history of art. The tour guides of Centro Studi Paglicci will lead you along the charming tour to the deposit, leaving from the town center and following vallone Settepende. From here it will be possible to admire a varied landscape, including the large area of Tavoliere dominated by the rocky cliffs characteristic of the southern slope of the Promontory.
