Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino

The huge block of pudding-stone in Portofino Promontory forms the northernmost coastal Protected Area in the Western Mediterranean Sea which lies among fresh Apennine woods and the warm Mediterranean maquis, among chestnut tree woods and olive groves, farming and sea traditions. The Park was established in 1935. It houses one of the largest floristic concentrations in the Mediterranean area, a considerable variety of birds and invertebrates, important architectonic elements, and the best-known scenario in the world. The seabed preserves the whole range of the sea biocenosis of the upper Tyrrhenian Sea. Where in Italy Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino
