Oppiano and the butterflies' garden

The church in Oppiano was built in the early 18th century, and it represented a point of reference for the pilgrims who walked the Via Francigena. From the church one reaches the "Sentiero delle Farfalle" (Path of the Butterflies) crossing the wet wood along the Canale Naviglio and the open grassland surrounded by shrubs and woodlands.
Among the blades there are small plants meeting the needs of the different butterflies: bulbous plants, wild carrot, the centaurea and the aristolochia. The rich road signs along the way allows visitors to recognize the different species of these colorful insects, describing their particular ability to adapt and behaviors.
