After parking the car in the site of Campiglia Soana, take the evident dirt road leading to Pian dell'Azaria. The route, simple and not very demanding, has only a few uphill stretch and leads to the large plateau of the extraordinary basin at the foot of the rocky ridges of Rancio. A characteristic broadleaf tree mixed with conifers and then dominated by wonderful spruce fir and larch specimens leads to Barmaion. Beyond the summer pasture, the woodland gives way to the snow-clad alpine grassland, where it is easy to sight the chamois grazing.
Be careful in case of not settled snow when you cross the gullies.
