The Park includes a part of the hills of Modena, crossed by a thick network of paths. The itineraries, among woodlands, chestnut tree woodlands, meadows, and cultivated fields, reach the most charming natural and historical destinations.
The main seat, not far from the Romanesque-style Pieve di Trebbio, is "Il Fontanazzo". Operative heart of the Protected Area, it houses offices, the Exhibit on the Park environments (with dioramas and naturalistic finds), the multi-purpose hall, the historical-naturalistic library, and the didactic archive. Outside, a botanic path with the main local species.
Three more Visitor Centers, situated in characteristic locations, complete the range of structures at the disposal of visitors and groups of students for Environmental Education and tourism.
The Environmental Education Center, within the INFEA system of Regione Emilia-Romagna, suggests a wide range of initiatives in which you can observe, experiment, discover the Environment.
Guided tours, activities in the field, thematic labs on rocks, vegetation, ancient professions are some of the proposals the Park offers.
The educational itineraries include guided routes and activities in the field (guided observations, tales, sensory experiences, explanations, workshops, etc.) to carry out during the day. For educational stays there is the Park Hostel L'Antico Ospitale di San Giacomo situated among the centuries-old chestnut trees of Zocca, to spend some time together in the natural context of the Park.
Possibility of economic contributions for the cost of the journey and the Park operators for schools and groups visiting the Protected Area. For info, please contact the Park Center (+39 059 795721 - parcosassi@database.it)
The didactic modules, to carry out during the school year, are educational itineraries consisting in meetings, workshops, activities in the field, guided explorations, etc. led by the Park operators. Some proposals, for instance, aim at drawing students closer to the issues of Natural Science (with reference to the Park specific features) or to the traditions linked to rural culture, using the Park as a detached classroom.
