The Mountain Hut

Sandro Occhi Mountain Hut at Aviolo is situated at 1,930m, in one of the most beautiful corners of Adamello Park, at the foot of the eastern slope of Cima Aviolo and the frozen northern wall of Corno Baitone, at the entrance of the enchanting basin where the wonderful Aviolo Lake stands out. It is one of the laps of the new stretch of Alta Via dell'Adamello.
Owned by the Municipality of Edolo, it is managed by the CAI section from Edolo.
It is a cosy small hotel with a great cuisine, open from early June to late September and eventually in other periods by previous booking. It offers rooms for a total of 54 beds, bathrooms and showers with warm running water. The winter premises are always open.
It joins the Association "Albergo Verde" of Vallecamonica, favoring the adoption of practices in tune with the environment, with local culture, and with the goals of the protected area.

Opening Periods

Early June-late September
Organized groups (Cai, Scout, Grest, Oratories, school groups...) are welcomed with particular care, both with their own guides and with the possibility to require the help of local experts and mountain tour guides. Reductions and free services for groups of at least 20 people. If you stay more than two days, free transport service by cableway of rucksacks, luggage, and equipment, by previous agreement by phone with the manager.

Recommended months:
* May - June - July, for the flower-clad Val d'Aviolo and Gallinera Pass.
* August, to stay away from the chaos of the valley bottom
* September-October, for the colors of the vegetation, the peat bogs, and the Lake

Where We Are

Wherever you come from, you must reach first of all the Municipality of Vezza d'Oglio. From here, to reach Sandro Occhi Mountain Hut at Aviolo, take Val Paghera by car and then follow trail no. 21 for about one hour. Or, from Edolo, always by car, follow the road of Mt. Colmo, Pozzuolo, take trail no. 72 to Iclo and from here trail 72/b in about four hours. As an alternative, always from Mt. Colmo-Preda take trail no. 1 (former 21) across Malga Stain Mountain Hut at first, and then Gallinera Pass, in about four hours.

Tours

The position of Sandro Occhi Mountain Hut at Aviolo is ideal to carry out several hikes and climbing activities to explore the spectacular geomorphology, the rich flora and variegated alpine fauna (chamois, wild ibex, marmot, partridge, eagle...) of the nature reserve of the Park and heart of a Site of Community Importance (SCI). Or simply to spend some time idling and sunbathing along the shores of the enchanting lake - where it is also possible to fish - or of the very clear stream, in the peace and silence of the uncontaminated nature. It is also possible to carry out several tours.>>>
