Enchanting Territory Facing La Spezia Gulf

From the peak of Caprione promontory, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, you can enjoy a breathtaking view over La Spezia Gulf in the west and over the fertile plain of the river Magra in the east. The Romans founded here the settlement of Luni. The river area is characterized both from cultivated lands and wetlands where aquatic birds nest, and from endangered areas. The Park was born by the fusion the pre-existing river park with the protected area of Montemarcello, as a requalification experiment of degraded areas. The most intact river stretch is represented by river Vara, a tributary of river Magra. The valley is rich in historical town centers and castles, as well as in ancient water mills.
