With bearwtching attempt and ovenight stay in a mountain hut

A weekend dedicated to the observation Marsican brown bear (Ursus arctos marsicanus) in its natural habitat. The exclusive Ecorifugio della Cicerana, located at 1560 meters above sea level, is the ideal place as a starting point for excursions to aim fauna. Here bears have found their ideal habitat, with its dense woods, karst environment full of cavities and large clearings as grazing areas. We will wait patiently for the appearance of the magnificent plantigrade. We will enjoy the starry sky after sunset and will enjoy the warm hospitality of the Lodge. During observations of fauna you can also spot other animals: deer, wild boar, deer and with a little 'luck even the wolf. We advise everyone to carefully read the rules of the "Ecosofia", to help guides to perform a stakeout in full respect of the animals.

PROGRAM

First Day Passo del Diavolo - ECORIFUGIO della Cicerana
After a short trip by car, to the path we climb to the plateau of Cicerana share in 1560 where he placed the Lodge. Accommodation in Lodge. Late afternoon bearwatching. Return to the hut in the evening. Dinner at mountain hut and overnight.

Second day ECORIFUGIO della Cicerana - Vallone LAMPAZZO - Sorgente Puzza - Passo del Diavolo
Rise early. Breakfast and new bearwatching . Excursion in the wild Vallone of Lampazzo, until it reaches the old forest of VAL CERVARA. From here you take the descent to Passo del Diavolo. Packed Lunches. Expected return in the early afternoon.

DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM First day. Passo del Diavolo - Ecorifugio of Cicerana. Elevation gain: 200 m. descent: 0 m. Journey time: about 2 hours. Distance: about 4 km.

Second day. Ecorifugio of Cicerana - Vallone Lampazzo - Sorgente Puzza -Passo del Diavolo. Elevation gain: about 350 m. descent: about 400 m. Journey time: about 5 hours. Distance: about 11 Km.

ACCOMODATION: at Ecorifugio della Cicerana

EQUIPMENT: Hiking shoes, light raincoat or poncho, hat, water bottle, backpack, long pants, jacket, t-shirt parts, flashlight, sweatshirt, binoculars,sun protection cream, sleaping bag or sheet sleaping bag, towels and pillow case. During the ambushes can be cold so we recommend dressing in layers.

COST: € 100 per person - € 80 from 7 to 12 years old

THE COST INCLUDES: Full board in dormitory (breakfast and dinner at "Rifugio della Cicerana" and packed lunch of the second day, drinkable water and 1/4 of wine for dinner) assistance of Nature guide.
