Parco Nazionale Alta Murgia

Altamura Cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, has been the seat of the Bishop of Altamura-Gravina-Acquaviva delle Fonti. It was built by Emperor Frederick II in 1232, in the same period in which the emperor re-founded the city of Altamura, after a long period of neglect.
