Underwater routes Pianosa - Point SP3

  • Trail Conditions: Diving
  • Difficulty Level: proportional to the depth one means to reach, presence of sea bottom sea currents with N-S direction

The recreational diving begins near a large sub-vertical carbonate rocky formation characterized by the alternation between steps and small terraces.
The diving can include the reaching of the wall's base, situated at a 40 m depth, and heading northwest or southwest also the climb back up to its top, at a -4 m depth. During this route, having a significant scientific-didactic value, divers will be able to observe the succession of different sciophilous biocenosis (from the base to a -22 m depth) and photophilic biocenosis (from a -25 depth to the surface).
Along the climb-back-up itinerary, in the cracks of the rocks and climbing back up to -18 m, it is possible to observe the considerable blooming of the zoantari Parazoanthus axinellae. A significant feature of this diving point is the opportunity for divers to observe an unusual vertical wall covered with P. oceanica.
