"Traditional" Agri-foodstuffs
"Traditional" agri-foodstuffs have a strong link with their territory, since they are prepared on the spot according to traditional techniques that have been used for almost twenty-five years now. They are produced by the agricultural holdings operating within the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, reducing the distance between producer and consumer through the so-called "short distribution chain". Unlike DOC, DOCG, PGI, and PDO identifying the geographical origin of the products, "traditional" products must be included in the national list (D. M. no. 350/1999 and D.lgs. no.13/1998), approved by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture and Forests. At a local level, Regione Toscana, in association with ARSIA, prepares and updates every year the list of its traditional products, among which the products made in the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, whose main feature is the unique territory they are made in, not only for the natural richness and the landscape beauty, but also for the healthy environment and the environmental respect of the agricultural practices.
