The heart of the National Park consists of Foreste Demaniali Casentinesi. They include more than 50 km of Strict Nature Reserves (Sasso Fratino and La Pietra) with an extraordinary naturalistic value, extending between Romagna and Tuscany.
The Forests we can admire today are the result of a millenary history where culture has developed forms of respect and a management of the territory perfectly compatible with the natural balances, from the Republic of Florence to the Italian State that, after over one century, still preserves this intact natural heritage.
The Nature Trail, developing between Badia Prataglia and Camaldoli Hermitage, climbs along the small and enchanting valley of the torrent Archiano d'Isola, covered with a wonderful beech tree wood.
