Congress "The poisoning of wildlife in Europe"

Impact on threatened species and tackling measures

Fonte Cerreto - Assergi (AQ)On the 24th and 25th October the conference entitled "L'avvelenamento della fauna selvatica in Europa. Impatto sulle specie minacciate e misure di contrasto" ("The poisoning of wildlife in Europe. Impact on threatened species and tackling measures") will take place in Fonte Cerreto-Assergi (AQ) and it will represent the last public event of the LIFE's ANTIDOTO Project.
On Thursday 24th October, in the E. Fermi conference hall of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics a large number of biologists and naturalists from Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Greece and Bulgaria will be debating the consequences the illegal use of poisons determines on large carnivores and scavenger raptors, with particular attention to the endangered species and the measures which can be carried out to fight this phenomenon.
The status of the activities implemented through ANTIDOTO in the three project areas (Gran Sasso and Laga Mountains National Park, Andalusia and Aragon) as well as the achieved results will be analyzed. Furthermore, other LIFE's projects aiming at limiting the phenomenon of wildlife poisoning will be presented.
On Friday 25th October participants will visit the most enchanting places near L'Aquila in Gran Sasso-Laga National Park, and they will attend the activities of the ANTIDOTO's Anti-poison Dog Units.
