Pecorino

The History
Pecorino is a local vine variety with white grapes which was discovered again near Ascoli and then spread again in the Picenum and in the Abruzzi. It was given this particular name because the area where it was cultivated was used for sheep farming. This vine variety has been recently rediscovered: it risked being lost because in the past it was relegated to small territories because of the insufficient yield and the lacking interest in wine production.
