PGI - Protected Geographical Indication
DOCG - Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin
DOC - Controlled Designation of Origin
These labels certify the local origin of the grapes which are typical of our hills. Very strict rules have to be respected to be awarded the DOC and DOCG labels, which grant high quality products. DOC means Controlled Designation of Origin.
Some of them: Sangiovese DOC, Albana DOCG, Pignoletto DOC, Trebbiano DOC…
IGP stands for Protected Geographical Indication; like the other labels, it is always awarded to local products, but its rules are less stringent.
