| Scientific and Recreational ServicesThe morphology of the environment, stratigraphy, pedology, karstic
phenomena, hydrography, wildlife and vegetational features are the main
elements for a scientific approach to this area which can be easily
discovered on horseback or on "St Francis' horse", that is on
foot, thanks to a thick network of recovered picnic areas used in the
past by shepherds.

| Paragliding and Free FlightFree flight can be practiced from 1st February to 30th November. From
the top of the mountain you can take off in different directions,
mainly from south-west to north-west. You can take off only from
specific places in loc. Fossa Cieca, Stazzarelli, and Sermolla. The landing place is in Rivotorto di Assisi, at about 500m from the town. For information, please contact:- Free Fly Ali Subasio

Mountain BikingThe several flame trap and forest roads well suit to tours by mountain
bike that can be carried out also along the trails if you are an expert.

Trekking on HorsebackThe minor road network (paths, mule tracks, dirt roads) with an hard
and not very bumpy roadbed give the opportunity to practice horse
riding. Recalling St. Francis' last journey from Nocera Umbra to
Assisi together with some horsemen, in September the so-called

Hiking and TrekkingMonte Subasio Park is one of the areas in Umbria where
the trails are best developed and maintained. Besides the traverse
itineraries characterizing the outermost Park areas (Peace Trail,
Franciscan Trail, Olive Trail), there is a thick network of trails
connected one with the other and offering several visiting

Further ActivitiesIf you are fond of canyoning, you can practice this activity at Fosso Marchetto gorge; if you are a skier, you can practice cross-country ski touring. Mt. Subasio is also an ideal place for people fond of kites.

Wildlife Management Restriction plan of the wild boar species in the protected area - year 2009
The aims of Monte Subasio Park include the conservation, defense, and recovery of the landscape and environment for a correct use of the territory with recreational, cultural, social, didactic, and scientific purposes and for the rehabilitation and enhancement of the resources and local economy. Hunting is not allowed in the protected area. However, selective sampling or shooting are allowed for research purposes and to recover ecological balances under the direct responsibility and surveillance of the Park Authority.
