The Park houses about 1,000 agricultural holdings covering an agricultural surface area of 37,000 ha. The traditional cultivations widespread in the Park are corn and rice. Among the other cereals, wheat is increasingly gaining ground. Cattle and pig breeding represents the main activity (in terms of produced income), with 305 breeding activities and an exploited surface area equal to the 30% of the Park agricultural lands. The animal productions represent the second major agricultural activity of the area surrounding Milan, immediately after the cereal production. Some of the Park holdings have lately decided to invest in the direct processing of the product, giving birth to new cheese factories and new slaughterhouses inside the holdings, which also opened shops to directly sell the product.
