Insectivorous plants vegetate on the shores of small lakes set in Lame Forest, the heart of Aveto Regional Park. The landscape is dominated by the highest peaks of the Ligurian Apennines, between 1,600 to 1,800 meters of altitude, and it reminds of the middle-European alpine areas also for its pastures which have been preserved thanks to the cattle breeding activities and to the production of a characteristic cheese. Thanks to the financial help of the Park and to the miners' commitment, it is nowadays possible to visit a deep manganese mine with a charming little train. There are many historical settlements of rural origin and sacred buildings such the ancient Borzone Abbey. It is worth seing some museums and didactic areas as well, such as the Gambatesa Mine and the F. Delpino Botanical Garden.
