The Longest Karst Spring River in Europe

Since ancient times, the mild climate of the area, the navigability of the waters, the proximity to the sea, the abundance of karst springs, and the richness of the surrounding woodland territory - the landscape, although similar, was not, however, the same as it is today - attracted several populations to live along the river Sile. Even if the landscape has changed, remains of a lake-dwelling culture are evidences of this past.
